Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional qualification ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience in an accounting function working with accounting principles, international financial reporting standards (IFRS), or related international accounting standards.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience of business partnering with strong problem-solving and investigative abilities.
  • Track record in utilizing AI, scripts, or advanced automation tools to enhance financial reporting and control environments.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment and to lead and drive complex operational initiatives.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload, while ensuring accuracy, timeliness and a high degree of attention to detail and a commitment to continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for overseeing the annual statutory financial statements and tax compliance process, including management of the external audit and tax filings for a portfolio of Alphabet's companies in the Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain (GIPS) sub-region.
  • Perform regular in-depth analysis on the financials, ensuring the integrity and financial accuracy of our books and records, while preparing, analysing and posting journals at month end.
  • Balance sheet management, review reconciliations of key balance sheet account balances including relevant reporting for the same. Ensure the internal control environment is robust.
  • Identify process and strategic improvement opportunities by leveraging AI, scripts, and automation tools to streamline financial reporting workflows, reduce manual intervention, and enhance the function's overall value proposition.
