Assistant Finance ManagerAbco Kovex Swords, County Dublin, Ireland

About the Company

Abco Kovex (part of Bunzl Ireland PLC) is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Assistant Finance Manager to join our growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant looking to develop their career within a supportive environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting financial control, reporting, forecasting, and operational finance activities while managing a team across accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, and tax compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a team of five direct reports covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, and tax compliance
  • Supporting the Chief Financial Director (CFD) in preparing reports for senior leadership
  • Assisting in the management of financial control, audit, and reporting activities
  • Working closely with the finance team to maintain and strengthen the internal control framework

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control

  • Co-ordinate and support month-end reporting
  • Assist with statutory external audits
  • Support taxation and filing activities
  • Payroll reporting
  • Oversight of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Preparation of financial analysis models
  • Strengthening the finance team’s analytical capabilities
  • Assisting the CFD with management and performance reporting
  • Monitoring performance of margin improvement initiatives
  • Liaising with procurement and sales teams on forecasting accuracy
  • Creating and managing customer reports
  • Identifying and highlighting unprofitable processes

Internal Control

  • Operate within the company’s internal control framework and support compliance
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly and periodic financial information
  • Drive continuous improvement in finance processes and controls

Treasury

  • Facilitate accurate and timely payments and cash collections
  • Monitor cash balances and arrange appropriate cash and dividend redemptions

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist with monthly forecasting
  • Support the annual budgeting process

People Management

  • Plan and manage team workloads effectively
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and oversight to finance team members
  • Identify development opportunities and support team progression

Qualifications

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant
  • Experience in a finance management role is desirable
  • Previous team management experience is essential

Required Skills

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential
  • Proven experience managing and leading a finance team within a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP Business One or Sage X3 is desirable
  • Oracle Hyperion experience would be beneficial
  • Experience with reporting or analytical software such as Power BI would be advantageous
