Title of Post: Clinical Academic Liaison Manager

JOB SYNOPSIS
The School of Medicine aims to be a world class medical school delivering leading-edge education and research programmes that positively impact the health and well-being of our global community. The School of Medicine, University of Limerick is pleased to invite applications for the position of Clinical Academic Liaison (CAL) Manager (Senior Executive Administrator). Reporting to the School Manager, this post is responsibility for the management and delivery of all aspects of the Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) both graduate entry and direct entry hospital placement matching process including oversight of the discipline specific rotation allocations. Given that clinical placements represent 50% of the BMBS Graduate Entry Medicine programmme and 33% of Direct Entry Medicine programme and are undertaken across diverse several affiliated hospital settings and GP practices, the Clinical Academic Liaison Manager leads multi-stakeholder engagement both internal and external to UL. Current UL affiliated teaching hospitals include UL Hospitals Group, Posrtiuncula University Hospital Ballinasloe, Tipperary University Clonmel, St. Luke’s General Hospital Kilkenny, Midland Regional Hospital Port Laoise and Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore. The CAL Manager is also responsible for the administrative management of the Mid-West Intern Network and the Clinical Education & Research Centre (CERC) Building Manager. The successful candidate will be expected to have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills and be able to plan and implement a very busy work schedule to strict deadlines. This person will be expected to work collaboratively with the clinical academic staff, tutors, HSE staff within the hospitals and GP practices in the delivery of teaching and clinical placements. They will be motivated and flexible in their approach to their work and will be dedicated to supporting quality in higher education. The person will be an experienced, highly motivated individual with excellent organisational and computer skills. Exceptional social skills, including an ability to communicate with stakeholders across a diverse setting, are essential. As the University evolves, service provision changes or become centralised, then this role evolve and change over time to suit the School and University’s needs and therefore duties maybe assigned or taken away by the School Manager. The post holder will work under the direction of the School Manager and will also work closely with the School’s Clinical Academic Liaison Officer, Allocations Coordinator and Executive Administrator General Practice.
