Full job description

Shop Standards Specialist

Bring energy, passion, and pride to our shops

At James Whelan Butchers, our shops are more than places to buy food — they are spaces where craft, quality, and people come together. As a proud fifth-generation family business, we believe every shop should feel welcoming, vibrant, and full of life.

We are looking for someone who loves retail and enjoys meeting people. Someone who takes pride in a shop that looks beautiful, feels welcoming, and leaves a lasting impression on those who visit.

The kind of person who enjoys saying hello, sharing a smile, and helping make someone’s day better. Someone who can step back at the end of the day, look around the shop, and feel proud of the environment they helped create and the team they are part of.

The Role

As our Shop Standards Specialist, much of the day will be spent on the shop floor helping ensure our shops look exceptional and feel welcoming to every customer.

Working closely with shop teams, the role focuses on maintaining strong standards, supporting beautiful displays, and ensuring the shop reflects the pride we take in our craft. It also involves engaging with customers, sharing knowledge about our products, and building genuine relationships — creating the kind of welcoming environment where customers feel cared for and colleagues support one another like family.

What We Are Looking For

Energy, positivity, and a natural eye for detail are essential. A genuine enjoyment of working with people, pride in presentation, and a passion for food will help someone thrive in this role.

Above all, we are looking for someone who understands that great retail is about people, pride, and relationships.

What We Offer

An opportunity to be part of a world-class artisan food business where quality and service sit at the heart of everything we do, within a supportive team that values passion, craft, and pride in the work we share every day.

The Person

Someone who enjoys retail, values people, and takes pride in doing things properly — the kind of person who appreciates the small details that make a difference: a warm greeting, a well-presented shop, and a customer leaving with a smile.

If this feels like the kind of place where your energy and passion would feel at home, we would be delighted to hear from you.
