About Us

Bear Races is one of Ireland’s leading organisers of mass participation sporting events. As part of The Bear Group, we deliver over 30 road races, fun runs, and endurance events annually. We pride ourselves on delivering premium race-day experiences that inspire runners and unite communities. With significant growth over the last two years, and further exciting expansion ahead, we’re looking for a meticulous Events Operations Operative to join our team and help us deliver seamless mass participation events across Ireland.

The Role

Bear Races is looking for a reliable, practical and motivated Events Operations Operative to support our Event Managers in planning, preparing and delivering sporting events.

This is a hands-on role focused on bringing events to life, from the physical setup and organisation of event spaces and infrastructure through to close-down, plus day-to-day support for Event Managers before, during and after each event.

No two events are the same, so you'll need to be adaptable, dependable and happy to support the team wherever you're needed. It'll suit someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in being organised, and thrives as part of a busy team.

Hours: Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is a core part of this role, with some overnight stays away required.

Main Purpose

To provide practical operational support to Event Managers across the full event lifecycle: pre-event prep, setup and delivery, on-site infrastructure management, and post-event breakdown. You'll play a key part in making sure every event location is properly prepared, professionally presented, and returned to good order afterwards.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Event Preparation

  • Prepare, pack and organise event infrastructure, branding, registration materials, finish-line equipment and other operational resources.
  • Support loading, unloading, transport and distribution of materials.
  • Help build equipment lists, stock requirements, delivery schedules and setup plans.
  • Make sure all materials are accounted for, clearly labelled and ready to deploy.
  • Keep storage areas organised, accessible and in good condition.

Event Setup & Delivery

  • Set up event locations to the agreed operational plan, registration, start and finish areas, information points, hospitality, branding zones and course infrastructure.
  • Prepare finish-line areas, including participant flow, medal and recovery zones, water, branding and presentation.
  • Carry out practical checks to confirm spaces are organised, presentable and working as intended.
  • Handle last-minute changes and additional tasks as they come up.
  • Assist participants, suppliers and stakeholders professionally, and flag operational issues to the Event Management Team promptly.

On-Site Infrastructure Management

  • Maintain a clean, organised and professional presentation across all event spaces.
  • Monitor infrastructure and equipment throughout, replenish supplies, and reposition or replace materials as needed.
  • Keep branding secure, visible and correctly positioned, and report any missing, damaged or depleted stock.

Post-Event Breakdown & Wrap-Up

  • Break down and remove infrastructure efficiently, and return resources to storage.
  • Carry out equipment checks, stock counts and return records after each event.
  • Leave venues clean, clear and in appropriate condition.
  • Flag damaged, missing or replacement requirements, and feed operational notes and recommendations into post-event reporting.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in events, operations, logistics, hospitality, warehousing, site setup or a similar hands-on role.
  • Physically capable, well organised and detail-focused.
  • Able to follow plans, instructions and schedules accurately.
  • A strong team player with good communication and a professional manner.
  • Proactive, with the initiative to take ownership of tasks in a busy environment.
  • Available to work weekends (Sat/Sun) and to stay away overnight when events require it.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to transport.

Desirable Experience

  • Supporting sporting events, festivals, exhibitions or mass-participation events.
  • Event setup, temporary structures, branding or infrastructure.
  • Stock control, warehouse management, logistics or equipment handling.
  • Working with suppliers, venues, contractors or delivery teams.
  • Manual handling, first aid or event-safety training.
  • Two-way radios or event communication systems.

What We Offer

  • Salary up to €30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • A varied, practical role in a growing sporting events company.
  • Exposure to the full event cycle — planning, logistics, setup, delivery and wrap-up.
  • A supportive team with real opportunities to develop within the Bear Group.
  • Annual Leave of 21 Days per annum
  • Time off in lieu for event weekends.

Please note this job will require Able to attend events (Sat/Sun) including some overnight stays.
