Job Purpose The Solar PV Design Engineer & Programme Manager, is responsible for leading the technical design, engineering development, and programme delivery of solar photovoltaic projects across residential, Agri, and commercial, sectors. This role ensures high-quality system design, manages project lifecycles, coordinates cross-functional teams, and ensures compliance with technical, financial, and regulatory requirements, maximising efficiency throughout the installation process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solar PV Design & Engineering

- Produce technical designs, layouts and single-line diagrams for PV systems using industry-standard tools (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, Opensolar, Solaredge.

- Conduct solar resource assessments, shading analyses, and energy yield modelling.

- Prepare engineering calculations including string sizing, inverter selection, cable sizing, protection schemes, and system optimisation.

- Develop feasibility studies, concept designs, and detailed engineering packages.

- Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, grid codes, and HSE requirements.

- Provide technical support through procurement, construction, and commissioning stages.

  • Programme & Project Management

- Lead end-to-end programme planning, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality targets are met.

- Manage multiple concurrent solar projects across their full lifecycle.

- Coordinate with procurement, construction, finance, and external contractors.

- Implement project controls, risk management and change management processes.

- Produce and maintain project documentation, schedules, reports, and dashboards.

- Conduct progress meetings, stakeholder briefings, and technical presentations.

  • Stakeholder & Contractor Management

- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.

- Support tender preparation, technical evaluations, and vendor pre-qualification.

- Respond to RFIs, provide engineering clarifications, and resolve design-related issues during construction.

- Lead cross-functional project teams to ensure alignment on goals and deliverables.

  • Quality, Compliance & Safety

- Perform QA/QC checks on designs, installation works, and commissioning document.

- Ensure compliance with national standards

- Support site inspections, processes, Quality and HSE audits.

- Champion best practices in engineering, sustainability, and safety driving high quality focus.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related discipline.

- 2–5+ years’ experience in solar PV design, engineering, or project delivery.

- Proven track record managing solar PV projects or programmes.

- Strong understanding of electrical design principles, solar technologies, and grid connection requirements.

- Experience with PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and other design tools.

- Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.

- Knowledge of HSE standards and construction processes.

Desirable Skills

- Experience with Residential Agri Commercial grid-tied solar systems.

- Knowledge of battery energy storage (BESS) integration.

- Project Management certifications

- Understanding of financial modelling or project economics.
