Position Title: Early Intervention Worker
The Employer:
Crosscare delivers services with a servant leadership ethos. Crosscare’s Homeless, Youth, Information and Advocacy Teams support those most in need with Love, Respect and Excellence.
Crosscare exists to support individual and families when they face difficult challenges in life and when they find it hard to get the help they need. Crosscare focuses on helping people when they need it most or when they can’t find support anywhere else.
Location: Crosscare Dun Laoghaire Youth Service
Work Schedule: Full time: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: 1 Full Time Permanent Post
Salary: €38,769 - €55,187 Depending on Experience
Reporting to: Youth Service Manager/Team Leader
General Responsibilities:
-
Engage individuals and groups aged 8 – 11 years in a range of activities and programmes with the aim of enhancing participants soft skill and prosocial behavioural development;
-
Link with community networks to identify, target and engage individuals and groups deemed at risk of engagement in antisocial or criminal activities or at risk of recruitment/grooming for local criminal networks;
-
Target and engage 8 – 11-year-old children who demonstrate socially harmful or ‘at risk’ behaviours within their community;
-
Support the participant target group to increase their positive attachment to community including to school, peers and prosocial leisure outlets;
-
Liaise with and maintain good communication channels with statutory and voluntary community groups and authorities who may refer suitable individuals for engagement in the project;
-
Support parents and guardians to increase protective factors within the home. Where appropriate link families into family supports services including into our Crosscare family support service;
-
Design, implement and evaluate age-appropriate programmes to engage the target group in outcome focused interventions;
-
Process referrals to the project through the Referral Committee;
-
Work in partnership with Gardaí, Tusla, schools and local agencies that participants may be linked with in developing appropriate responses to their needs;
-
Keep project records and provide updates and reports as requested including the drafting of the Annual Plan following a consultative process with the Gardaí;
-
Attend the Project Committee meetings, providing progress updates as required;
-
Provide youth work interventions in the catchment area in line with the Youth Diversion Project plan as approved by the Project Committee;
-
Take part in approved training for developing the Youth Diversion Project and carry out any other duties deemed necessary by Crosscare, IYJS, Gardaí or project committee for the development of the project and fulfilment of the annual plan.
Essential Requirements:

Be in possession of a third level qualification in youth work and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with young people at risk.

Experience of dealing with Child Safeguarding Issues.

Full Driving licence desirable.
