About the Role

O’Flynn’s Gourmet Sausage Co. is seeking an ambitious and proactive Business Graduate to join our team in a varied, hands-on role offering exposure to multiple areas of a fast-moving and growing food business.

O’Flynn’s operates across a number of different areas, including food production, retail, fast-casual restaurants, events and catering, sales and marketing. Reflecting this diversity, the Business Graduate role has deliberately been designed to provide experience across the business rather than within one narrow function.

The role combines administration, business analysis, business development, operations and marketing, alongside regular customer-facing experience. The successful candidate will work directly with company management from the outset and will be given meaningful responsibility for projects and day-to-day activities.

This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate who wants to understand how a growing SME actually operates, develop a broad range of commercial skills and gain significant responsibility early in their career.

Structure of the Role

The position combines office/business responsibilities with approximately two days per week of customer-facing work across O’Flynn’s locations and activities, including Winthrop Street, Western Road and events. Some weekend work will be required.

This customer-facing element is an important part of the graduate role. It provides first-hand understanding of our customers, products, operations and teams, while ensuring that analysis, marketing and business decisions remain grounded in what is happening across the business.

The remaining time will involve working alongside management on a diverse range of commercial and operational activities, detailed further below.

Key Responsibilities

Business Administration & Coordination

  • Manage and monitor the company's central information email account, responding to and directing enquiries from customers, suppliers, event organisers and other stakeholders.
  • Support general business administration and coordination across different areas of the company.
  • Assist the Owner and management team with calendar management, email management, scheduling and follow-up activities.
  • Coordinate internal information and ensure actions and requests are followed through across the business.
  • Provide administrative support for new projects and business initiatives as required.

Business Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain regular sales reports across different products, locations and activities (excel skills necessary).
  • Analyse performance of specific product categories and initiatives, including areas such as Dawg of the Month, sausage rolls, restaurant sales, retail products and events.
  • Support production analysis, comparing quantities produced against quantities sold.
  • Monitor returns, waste and unsold stock, identifying trends and opportunities to improve forecasting and operational efficiency.
  • Assist management in turning business data into clear, practical information that can support decision-making.
  • Help develop simple dashboards and reporting processes as the business continues to grow.

Events & Business Development

  • Manage and coordinate event enquiries and bookings, from initial contact through to confirmation and delivery.
  • Maintain event calendars and ensure relevant operational information is communicated internally.
  • Support the identification and development of new event, retail, partnership and business opportunities.
  • Represent O’Flynn’s at selected events and activations.
  • Assist management with research and preparation relating to potential new commercial opportunities.

Marketing

  • Work alongside management on the implementation of O’Flynn’s marketing activities.
  • Assist with social media content creation, including photography and video.
  • Support the shooting, editing and preparation of short-form content for platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.
  • Participate in in-store tastings, product launches and promotional activations as part of the marketing function.
  • Capture content from restaurants, production, events and other areas of the business.
  • Help identify stories, products and activities from across O’Flynn’s that can be translated into engaging marketing content.
  • Support other marketing campaigns and activities as required.

Document & Process Management

A significant initial project within the role will involve supporting the continued standardisation and organisation of company documentation and processes.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and organising existing company documentation.
  • Developing consistent approaches to document naming, storage, filing and version control.
  • Supporting the documentation of key business processes.
  • Developing simple process flows, templates and standardised documents.
  • Helping ensure important operational knowledge and procedures are clearly documented and easily accessible.
  • Working with management and employees across the business to understand how existing processes operate and where they can be improved.

Customer & Operational Experience

Approximately two days per week will involve working directly within O’Flynn’s customer-facing operations, including Winthrop Street, Western Road and selected events.

This will involve:

  • Serving and engaging with customers.
  • Developing detailed knowledge of O’Flynn’s products and customer experience.
  • Supporting restaurant and event teams during busy periods.
  • Understanding operational processes from the perspective of employees and customers.
  • Identifying opportunities for operational, marketing and customer-experience improvements.

This element of the position is intended to give the graduate a genuine understanding of the business from the customer counter through to management decision-making.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is curious, energetic and eager to learn. Because of the breadth of the role, we do not expect a graduate to arrive with expertise in every area. The most important thing for us is the willingness and ability to learn quickly, take ownership and get involved.

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • A recent degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Management or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take responsibility.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Confidence working with numbers and interpreting basic business data.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong personal skills and confidence dealing with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • An interest in marketing and social media.
  • Basic photography, video or editing skills would be advantageous.
  • An ability to manage several different activities and priorities simultaneously.
  • A willingness to work in both office and customer-facing environments.
  • Flexibility to support events and other business activities when required.

What the Role Offers

This is not a traditional graduate position where you will spend your first year observing from the sidelines.

From the outset, the Business Graduate will work directly with O’Flynn’s management, participate in real business projects and be trusted with meaningful responsibilities.

The objective is to provide the successful candidate with a broad understanding of how the different elements of a growing business connect, while allowing them to develop their own strengths and identify areas in which they may wish to specialise over time.

For someone who is proactive, commercially curious, comfortable getting stuck in and eager to learn, the role offers an unusually broad introduction to business and the opportunity to make a visible contribution to O’Flynn’s from day one.
