DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

AWS’ EMEA Non Traditional Environment Physical Security Team is looking for a Data Center Security Specialist with experience working in critical infrastructure support, ideally data centers.
As a Data Center Security Specialist you will be tasked with driving operational security excellence in a control room setting. You will provide support to on-site security and other customers by completing remote security tasks via a chat/phone system. Your vigilance will drive a culture of quality, support, and proactive identification of physical security vulnerabilities for remediation. You will interface directly with customers from across the globe. You will extract metrics and observe improvements by looking at available data. You will write and implement security procedures and directives, reports, develop presentations, and advise leadership on the status of physical security operations. The ideal candidate will be open to working non-traditional hours to support a 24x7 security operation.

Key job responsibilities
  • Coordinate the activities with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the activities of a professional contract guard force.
  • Interface with and assist in mobilizing vendors involved in system repairs and new security construction.
  • Oversee individual security vendor deliverables, track service delivery and request corrective actions from vendors as needed.
  • Foster working relationships to educate Data Center business partners and stakeholders on NTE Security posture, processes and procedures.
  • Foster working relationships to educate Data Center business partners and stakeholders on false alarm reductions.
  • Extract metrics and observe improvements by looking at and analyzing data.
  • Verify Data Center security programs are delivered to meet defined global security standards.
  • Develop strategies for improving electronic surveillance and access controls.
  • Draft reports and prepare presentations on the status of physical security operations.
  • Collaborate with managers in writing and implementing security processes and procedures.
  • Serve as a customer advocate by identifying security-related opportunities and crafting innovative solutions that maintain security standards.
  • Be able to work a 24/7/365 shift pattern.
  • As this is a sovereign cloud region, the selected candidate requires EU Citizenship and residency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience overseeing security operations and working with security vendors/contractors
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, or experience in IT Security
  • This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with security equipment such as intrusion detection devices, access control systems, etc.
  • Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays in a 24/7/365 environment
  • Experience using English communication skills, both written and verbal, to foster seamless interaction with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing, planning, and managing time
