Trinity is Ireland’s leading university and is ranked 75th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2026). Founded in 1592, the University is steeped in history with a reputation for excellence in education, research, and innovation, which has been inspiring generations of thinkers for over 400 years. Thrive: Trinity College Dublin's Strategic Plan 2025 - 2030
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PD2) to join the PEAT-GENIE project, a Horizon Europe collaborative research programme developing next-generation Digital Twins to support the monitoring, restoration and sustainable management of peatland ecosystems across Europe. The successful candidate will play a central role in the scientific delivery of Trinity College Dublin's contribution to PEAT-GENIE through the development of innovative Earth Observation, environmental data science and artificial intelligence approaches for peatland monitoring, greenhouse gas modelling and Digital Twin development. Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will undertake interdisciplinary research at the interface of Earth Observation, environmental science, machine learning and geospatial modelling while collaborating with leading European universities, research institutes and environmental organisations. The role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to internationally significant research, publish in leading journals and help shape the development of new environmental monitoring and decision-support tools for climate and ecosystem management. The successful candidate will also contribute to the technical mentoring and co-supervision of a PhD researcher associated with the project.
