Job Purpose

The Breakfast Chef is responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality breakfast dishes to guests, ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation at all times. This role plays a key part in creating a positive start to the guest experience and requires excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment. The Breakfast Chef will also support the wider kitchen team with prep work and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

Role Responsibilities

Breakfast Preparation & Service

• Prepare, cook, and present all breakfast menu items to a consistently high standard.
• Ensure all dietary requirements and special requests are handled accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain smooth service during busy breakfast periods.

Food Quality & Presentation

• Ensure dishes are prepared and presented in line with hotel and brand standards.
• Monitor portion control, taste, and presentation for every plate leaving the kitchen.
• Work with the Head Chef or Sous Chef to review and update breakfast offerings.

Kitchen Organisation & Hygiene

• Keep the breakfast station organised, clean, and fully stocked during service.
• Adhere to all food safety, HACCP, and health & safety regulations.
• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and storage areas.

Stock Control & Ordering Support

• Monitor breakfast stock levels and report shortages to the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
• Support with ordering and stock rotation (FIFO) to minimise waste.
• Conduct basic prep for the next day's service where required.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth breakfast service.
• Support colleagues with general prep tasks as needed.
• Contribute to a positive and professional team environment.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience as a Breakfast Chef or Chef de Partie in a busy hotel or restaurant kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of breakfast and brunch cooking techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and kitchen hygiene standards.
• A team player with a proactive and flexible approach.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to start early shifts reliably.
