Job Purpose
The Breakfast Chef is responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality breakfast dishes to guests, ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation at all times. This role plays a key part in creating a positive start to the guest experience and requires excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment. The Breakfast Chef will also support the wider kitchen team with prep work and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
Role Responsibilities
Breakfast Preparation & Service
- Prepare, cook, and present all breakfast menu items to a consistently high standard.
- Ensure all dietary requirements and special requests are handled accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain smooth service during busy breakfast periods.
Food Quality & Presentation
- Ensure dishes are prepared and presented in line with hotel and brand standards.
- Monitor portion control, taste, and presentation for every plate leaving the kitchen.
- Work with the Head Chef or Sous Chef to review and update breakfast offerings.
Kitchen Organisation & Hygiene
- Keep the breakfast station organised, clean, and fully stocked during service.
- Adhere to all food safety, HACCP, and health & safety regulations.
- Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and storage areas.
Stock Control & Ordering Support
- Monitor breakfast stock levels and report shortages to the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
- Support with ordering and stock rotation (FIFO) to minimise waste.
- Conduct basic prep for the next day's service where required.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth breakfast service.
- Support colleagues with general prep tasks as needed.
- Contribute to a positive and professional team environment.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience as a Breakfast Chef or Chef de Partie in a busy hotel or restaurant kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of breakfast and brunch cooking techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and kitchen hygiene standards.
- A team player with a proactive and flexible approach.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to start early shifts reliably.
