Job Title: Full-Time Shepherd

Location: Roundwood, Wicklow

Salary: €35,000 per year

Position Type: Full-time, 5 days per week

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Shepherd to join our team at a working farm in Roundwood, Wicklow. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary of €35,000 per year. The successful candidate will work alongside another highly experienced shepherd, assisting in the management and care of both sheep and cattle on the farm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the health, well-being, and daily care of sheep and cattle.
  • Guide and manage livestock in various pastures, ensuring they are well-fed and secure.
  • Perform regular checks on livestock to identify signs of illness or injury and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain farm equipment and infrastructure as needed.
  • Operate farm equipment and vehicles
  • Work closely with the other shepherd to plan and manage pasture rotations and farm tasks.
  • Assist with breeding, lambing, and calving as required.
  • Ensure all livestock are properly tagged, and records are maintained for breeding and health monitoring.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with sheep and cattle on a farm.
  • Strong knowledge of livestock care, pasture management, and handling techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Good physical fitness to handle the physical demands of the job.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and manage varied tasks throughout the year.
  • A proactive approach to animal welfare and farm management.
