A Personal Assistant (PA) carries out physical tasks that a disabled person would do themselves if they were not disabled. A PA's role is provide practical assistance for daily independent living. It can be similar to a Health Care Assistant (HCA) role but in other ways very different.

The Personal Assistants are employed to support the Leader to live an independent and self-directed life by assisting both at the home and in the community.

You will be required to work 36 hours per week in three 12 hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist client with personal care activities including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor health indicators and report changes to the primary healthcare team
- Support medication management according to HSE guidelines
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when necessary
- Perform housekeeping duties including laundry, cleaning, and tidying
- Run essential errands such as grocery shopping and prescription collection
- Provide mobility assistance, including transfers and ambulation support
- Accompany clients to GP visits and hospital appointments
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records
- Observe and report changes in client condition or behaviour

## Housekeeping Duties
- Keeping living areas clean and organised
- Changing and laundering bed linens and personal clothing
- Washing dishes and maintaining kitchen cleanliness
- Dusting and hoovering main living areas
- Taking out rubbish and recycling
- Ensuring walkways are clear of hazards
- Organising medications and healthcare supplies
- Cooking meals

## Qualifications
- QQI Level 5 Certificate in Healthcare Support or equivalent
- FETAC/QQI modules in Care Skills and Care of the Older Person
- Patient Moving and Handling certification
- Garda vetting clearance
- Clean driving license preferred
- Physical ability to assist with client transfers and mobility
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient demeanor

## Preferred Skills & Experience
- Previous caregiving experience within the Irish healthcare system
- Knowledge of common chronic conditions
- First Aid certification (would be an advantage)
- Understanding of proper body mechanics for safe transfers
- Familiarity with HSE policies and procedures
- Basic cooking skills and nutrition knowledge

This position requires a compassionate individual who can balance healthcare support with practical household assistance while maintaining client dignity and independence in line with Irish healthcare practices and values.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: €16.00-€25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12.0 – 36.0 per week
