Communicare is looking for an empathetic, patient and dependable Social Care Assistant who has a genuine passion for helping people and a commitment to providing high-quality care.

We provide individualised and person-centred residential disability services. The goal of our Disabilities Services Team is to maximise the independence of our clients while supporting their physical, emotional and social needs.

We are recruiting in the Ballinasloe area.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Support our clients in daily tasks such as personal care, light housekeeping, food preparation.
  • Provide companionship and support with social activities.
  • Work to promote the health and well-being of Service Users.

Role requirements:

  • FETAC/QQI Level 5 in Social Care or Healthcare
  • Two written references.
  • CPR & Patient Moving and Handling Certificates
  • Full driving license and access to a car.
  • Shift work - days, nights, weekends.
  • A genuine understanding and interest in working alongside individuals in effecting positive opportunities and change in their lives in a meaningful way.
  • The ability to listen, to see and respectfully advocate for and on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs, preferences, rights and wishes.
  • Have excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of team work with motivation to deliver high quality care, working alongside individuals, their families and other disciplines.
  • A strong belief in people's rights, inclusion and equality.
  • Flexibility will be required from time to time to respond to service demands.
