BUILD A CAREER THAT MEANS SOMETHING

Care Assistant / Support Worker

North Kildare Services, Prosperous, Co. Kildare
· Permanent, 0.80 WTE

Day Roster (Mon–Sun) · Full, clean manual driving licence required · Premium payments apply

Why Join Us?

At Gheel Autism Services, we are dedicated to supporting individuals with autism through their life journey. Our mission is to enable people to have fulfilling life experiences while promoting autonomy and empowering them to make their own choices. If you're proactive, imaginative, and driven by strengths-based, person-centered practice, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

We're currently seeking a Care Assistant / Support Worker, 0.80 WTE, to join our team in Prosperous, Co. Kildare. This is a day roster position covering Monday to Sunday, with associated premium payments.

Our Service Users attend here for community-based residential supports. These are busy homes, with individuals supported enjoying a mixture of home and community-based activities. As the ideal candidate, you'll be proactive and imaginative when it comes to service provision, with the awareness and skillset to support those who experience sensory differences — helping them maximise their experiences both within their own home and the community, and working under HIQA guidelines and standards.

You'll produce, implement, and evaluate practical resources and strategies to support communication and thinking, alongside assessment documentation for social, healthcare, and personal development — and, working alongside our Practitioners, help develop independent living skills, education and employment possibilities, and social and leisure groups.

Salary and Benefits

The salary scale runs from €36,055 to €45,163 per annum pro rata, with premium payments also associated with this role. A sector-wide pay agreement will provide for a 2% increase from 1st October 2026.

Essentials:

  • FETAC Major Level 5 Qualification in Social Care, or a qualification in Health or Social Science

  • Excellent communication and engagement skills

  • Experience supporting individuals with a diagnosis of ASD

  • Ability to promote independence where applicable

  • Ability to work under pressure, use own initiative, and meet deadlines

  • Report writing skills

  • A full, clean manual driving licence

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of case management

  • Experience in developing support plans and carrying out reviews

  • Ability to display flexibility in the role

  • Willingness to develop professional skills as identified through supervision, and managing your own CPD

  • Information technology skills

  • Experience/ability to liaise and network with community services

What You'll Get

  • Competitive salary, placed fairly for your experience (see above)

  • 7% employer pension contribution

  • Up to 25 days annual leave, plus maternity and paternity leave

  • Employee Assistance Programme, reflective practice, and supportive supervision

  • Structured training, career progression, and education support

  • Bike-to-Work scheme and employee discount scheme

In Their Own Words

The people we support in this area are looking for someone who can:

  • Support them with their activities and routines

  • Help them learn new things

  • Assist with personal care

  • Have fun — and be patient, kind, and caring

  • Share an interest in things like music, baking, or crafts, and help find new things to try

Ready to Apply?

Submit your cover letter and up-to-date CV to recruitment@gheel.ie. Applications will be shortlisted based on the evidence provided against the criteria above.
