Full job description

Cpl Healthcare is thrilled to be awarded Tier 1 status and is one of four Tier 1 suppliers of agency staff to the HSE nationwide. As a result, we are now seeking Chefs to join our agency panel for placements across HSE healthcare settings throughout Ireland.

The Role

Working across a variety of hospital and community healthcare settings, you will provide catering services as directed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Requisitioning of foodstuffs and materials through the Executive Chef.
  • Preparation of both raw and cooked food.
  • Preparing, Cooking and Service of food in accordance with the HSE Catering Hygiene & Food Safety Policy.
  • Records keeping as per HACCP requirements.
  • Portioning and packing of both raw and cooked food.
  • Rotation and allocation of foodstuffs exercising economy and safety.
  • Labelling, dating, chilling and storage of food.
  • Regeneration and services of food.
  • Record keeping – Food & equipment temperatures, stocktaking and incidents etc.
  • Ensure that you maintain the cleanliness and good order of your area of assignment and associated areas to the highest possible standard.
  • Ensure efficient and economical use of materials and equipment.
  • To adhere to specifications, standards and procedures while at work.
  • To report mechanical defects and needs for repairs.
  • Provide assistance and advice to staff in display/plating and service areas on portion size.
  • Checking and serving of meals at service points throughout the hospital, kitchen, cafeteria and wards for quality, quantity and presentation to staff and patients.
  • To report to and document to management immediately any illnesses, accidents, fire, stock loss, damage, unfit food and take such action as may be appropriate and document if necessary.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

(a) Have obtained a Professional Cookery award at minimum Level 6 on National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent maintained by the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

Or

(ii) Have obtained an equivalent qualification to (i) from another jurisdiction.

Or

(iii) Working as a Chef in the Irish Health Service.

And

(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high

standard of suitability and professional ability, for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

(c) Current HACCP certification

Desirable:

  • Experience of working as a Chef in a hospital or healthcare environment
