The store is located in a busy town in Donegal, only a 20 mins drive from Carndonagh and a 40 mins drive from Letterkenny. Candidates with cars are preferred given the early morning shifts. Our client is looking for an experienced Head Chef with strong background in managing a bakery, supermarket bakery or bakery production. This job requires a hands-on approach in the bakery due to its high production of bread and other bakery items per day. Also, ensuring the bakery department looks presentable, all HACCP standards are followed and supervising the team to deliver excellent service to the customers. An ideal candidate will be passionate about progressing their career in Bakery, learning and applying new techniques to run bakery effectively and have knowledge of sales and margins. • Lead and oversee the daily operations of the bakery department.
• Produce high-quality breads and bakery products while maintaining consistency across all items.
• Plan, organise, and manage bakery production to meet customer demand.
• Ensure products are baked fresh and presented to the highest standards.
• Train, mentor, and support bakery team members to achieve excellent performance.
• Manage workflow and delegate tasks to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
• Maintain attractive, fully stocked bakery displays to maximise sales.
• Monitor stock levels and minimise waste through effective production planning.
• Deliver excellent customer service and professionally handle customer queries or special requests.
• Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety, and health & safety regulations.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the bakery.
• Drive sales and continuously look for opportunities to improve bakery performance and profitability.

• At least 2 years' experience in a busy bakery environment.
• Experience in baking production preferably bread and food preparation.
• Ability to make baked goods from scratch or work with par-baked products.
• A bakery qualification is an advantage.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Creative approach with good eye for presentation and merchandising.
• Well organised with strong attention to detail.
• Reliable, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of customer needs and priorities.
