Full job description

Your new companyOur client is a leading international engineering consultancy delivering major infrastructure and transportation projects across Ireland and the UK. Due to continued growth in their rail sector, they are seeking an experienced Rail Project Director to lead the delivery of high-profile railway infrastructure programmes and support the continued expansion of their transportation business.
Your new roleAs Rail Project Director, you will take a leading role in the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects from concept design through to construction. You will work closely with clients, stakeholders and technical teams, providing project leadership, commercial oversight and programme management across major transportation schemes.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Directing multidisciplinary rail and transportation projects.
  • Leading project delivery, programme management and client engagement.
  • Managing commercial and contractual aspects of projects.
  • Coordinating engineering and design teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Mentoring and developing senior project management and engineering staff.
  • Supporting business growth through bid preparation, proposal development and winning new work.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent professional body.
  • Significant experience delivering major infrastructure or railway projects within Ireland or the UK.
  • Strong understanding of project life cycle management from feasibility through to construction.
  • Experience acting as Employer's Representative, NEC Project Manager or similar client-facing role.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
  • Full driving licence.
