Cleaner – Role Overview

Purpose of the Role
To maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation throughout the school buildings and facilities, contributing to a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily cleaning tasks across assigned areas including rooms, corridors, offices, toilets, common areas, and other facilities
  • Vacuum, mop, dust, and polish floors, surfaces, and furniture
  • Clean and sanitise toilets, washrooms, and high-touch areas to required hygiene standards
  • Empty bins and remove waste in line with recycling and waste management procedures
  • Replenish cleaning supplies and report low stock levels
  • Report any maintenance issues, damages, or health and safety concerns promptly
  • Assist with periodic deep cleaning and special cleaning requests as needed
  • Work safely with cleaning equipment and chemicals following school procedures
  • Maintain a professional and courteous manner when working around students and staff

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual, and physically fit
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Hours & Reporting
This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Cleaning Supervisor.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From €14.15 per hour
