Full job description

We are looking to recruit a Bar Manager to join our award winning team here in The Connacht Hotel. This role will be reporting to The Hotel Manager.

Function: To manage and lead all Bar operations and to deliver the financial success of the Beverage function in teh hotel.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities

  • To lead the Bar department and execute the strategy to achieve department goals.
  • To support the Hotel Manager in the strategic running of the hotel Bar.
  • To engage in the recruitment process by partaking in interviews, overseeing trials and making hiring decisions
  • To ensure new staff are fully trained and supported during on-boarding period
  • To focus on retention and development of employees
  • To review and report staff performance
  • To motivate the team and lead by example
  • Manage correct set-up and service of Bar, floor, lobby and glass corridor for all service times and ensure consistency at all times
  • Hands on approach to service when required
  • Support evening service in the restaurant
  • To review sales on a regular basis and identify new sources of revenue and product development in order to maximise the profitability
  • To liaise with Sales and Marketing team on the beverage promotional programme for the year ensuring profitability
  • To liaise with Meetings & Events department to ensure all occasions / events’ booking requirements for F&B are correct and delivered.
  • To oversee and support events in the hotel to ensure excellence in service is delivered at all times
  • To communicate effectively with other departments and their managers to ensure smooth operations and service quality
  • To effectively manage and forecast staff rosters
  • To be responsible for payroll costs for the department and to ensure they are meeting their forecasted payroll costs
  • To maintain efficient control measures of the bar stock and inventory
  • To supervise cash handling practices within the department
  • To manage food and beverage costs effectively
  • Work closely with HR to ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health & safety, employment regulations and other statutory regulations.
  • To support Green Team with the company policy and initiatives to promote Sustainability and Green approach within Food and Beverage department

Professional requirements and Experience:

  • Hospitality/ Event Management Degree desirable
