Job Description – Duty Manager

Location: Marine Hotel, Sutton

Reports to: General Manager

Overview:

The Marine Hotel in Sutton is entering an exciting new phase under dynamic new ownership. As part of our renewed focus on excellence, we are looking for a confident and capable Duty Manager to support daily hotel operations and ensure our guests enjoy exceptional experiences from arrival to departure. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious hospitality professional to grow within a revitalised and forward-looking hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee hotel operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth coordination across all departments.

· Provide visible leadership and support to front office, food & beverage, housekeeping, and maintenance teams.

· Ensure all guests receive a warm welcome and outstanding service throughout their stay.

· Resolve guest issues and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring positive outcomes and follow-up.

· Monitor service standards, appearance, and presentation of all public areas.

· Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, and security policies at all times.

· Support the management team in implementing new initiatives and service improvements under new ownership.

· Assist with staff training, motivation, and development to maintain high performance and morale.

· Handle cash, reports, and shift handovers accurately and efficiently.

· Act as the senior manager on duty in the absence of senior leadership, making sound operational decisions.

· Previous experience in a supervisory or duty management role within a hotel environment.

· Strong leadership and communication skills with a guest-first mindset.

· Calm, professional approach when managing guest concerns or operational challenges.
