The Royal Marine Hotel is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Hotel Duty Manager to join our management team.

Reporting directly to the Hotel Manager, the Duty Manager will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day running of the hotel, supporting Heads of Department and ensuring the highest standards of service across all areas.

We are looking for a confident, hands-on individual with strong interpersonal skills, drive and ambition. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of making decisions and thinking on their feet in a fast-paced environment.

A solid understanding of hotel operations is essential, especially in food and beverage, along with the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a wider team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the hotel
  • Ensure all service and quality standards are consistently met
  • Anticipate guest needs and proactively manage expectations
  • Support all departments in delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of all hotel departments
  • Assist Heads of Department in managing and supervising teams
  • Handle guest queries and issues efficiently, ensuring they are resolved to a high standard
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and hotel policies


Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Front Office and Food & Beverage operations
  • Experience with Hotsoft or similar hospitality systems
  • Knowledge of cash handling and basic accounting procedures
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, early mornings and weekends
  • Hospitality or management qualification (desirable)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
