Assistant Bar Manager | The Quays Bar Galway

Reporting to the Bar Manager & General Manager, The Quays Bar Galway is hiring a Bar Manager.

Excellent Package of up to €52,000 for the right candidate.

The Quays Bar Galway is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Bar Manager to join our busy and iconic Galway city centre venue. Reporting directly to the Bar Manager & General Manager, the successful candidate will help lead the bar team, maintain excellent service standards, and support the smooth day-to-day running of the business.

This is a hands-on role suited to a strong hospitality professional with excellent leadership skills, a passion for customer service, and experience working in a fast-paced bar environment. Responsibilities will include supervising service, supporting staff training and development, maintaining stock and bar standards, assisting with rosters, and ensuring guests enjoy a consistently high-quality experience.

The ideal candidate will be organised, reliable, commercially aware, and confident leading a team while working closely with the General Manager to drive standards, sales, and overall performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Bar Manager & General Manager in the day-to-day running of the bar and overall venue operations.
  • Lead, motivate, and supervise the bar team during busy service periods.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and a welcoming guest experience at all times.
  • Maintain high standards of drink service, presentation, cleanliness, and bar organisation.
  • Support stock control, ordering, deliveries, and waste management.
  • Help manage rosters, labour levels, and daily operational planning.
  • Ensure all cash handling, tills, and opening/closing procedures are followed correctly.
  • Monitor bar standards and ensure company policies and procedures are maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, food safety, licensing, and responsible service requirements.
  • Work closely with the Bar Manager to drive sales, standards, and team performance.
