Full job description

Academic Programs International (API) specialises in delivering life-changing experiences in international education to university students. Based in Austin, Texas, we partner with American universities to offer their students once in a lifetime experiential education programmes in Europe, Latin America and The Middle East. API programmes in Ireland are located in Dublin, Galway and Limerick.

API Ireland is recruiting for a Resident Director on a Maternity Cover contract for our Dublin team. This role will be full-time and based in our Dublin city centre office. Weekend and evening work is sometimes required, and flexibility with hours is a must.

Reporting to the Ireland Regional Director, the Resident Director (Maternity Cover) is responsible for the planning, pricing, budgeting, organisation and day to day operation of API's programmes in Dublin. This is a multi-faceted role which includes, but is not limited to, arranging student housing; design and delivery of on site orientations; researching and developing itineraries, pricing transportation, hotels, meals and activities, identifying and booking guest speakers and business visits; organising and attending cultural activities, excursions and events for students and acting as a cultural coach to assist students in their cultural adaptation.

The Resident Director supports API students in Dublin and is their main point of contact throughout their programme in Ireland. The Resident Director also shares responsibility with other team members as the 24 hour emergency contact for API students on-site.

The Resident Director is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with university partners, service providers as well as managing student, parent, university and employer expectations while working to ensure high levels of service are maintained across all API programmes.

Requirements

  • Live in Dublin
  • University Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Fluent English with excellent written and spoken communication
  • Highly organised and professional with excellent time management, organisational and event planning skills
  • Event planning and event management experience
  • A genuine interest in working with people
  • An interest and good knowledge of Dublin, Irish history and culture
  • Sensitivity to student needs and cultural differences
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise tasks and work to strict deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative while collaborating with international teams across different time zones
  • A positive can-do attitude
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist across other areas and programmes when required

Preferable

  • Professional or academic experience with international students
  • Experience in the tourism (not hospitality) sector
  • Experience of working with large groups
  • Experience working to strict deadlines
  • Experience of living or working abroad
