Hotel Receptionist

ABOUT US

The Schoolhouse Hotel & Gastrobar is a 4-star boutique property in the heart of Ballsbridge, D4. Originally built in 1859, our historic Victorian building offers 31 individually designed guest rooms and a thriving gastrobar. We're a close-knit team that takes great pride in creating memorable guest experiences – warm, genuine hospitality is at the heart of everything we do.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a warm, professional Receptionist to join our front office team. As the first and last point of contact for our guests, you'll be the face of the Schoolhouse – creating those moments that turn a simple stay into a memorable experience. In a boutique hotel, every interaction matters, and your personality and care will shine through.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome guests with genuine warmth and manage check-in and check-out efficiently
  • Handle reservations via phone, email, and third-party channels (Booking.com, Expedia, etc.)
  • Manage bookings and guest records through our Hotsoft PMS system
  • Coordinate with housekeeping to ensure rooms are ready and to a high standard
  • Be the local expert – recommending restaurants, attractions, and arranging taxis or bookings
  • Handle guest queries, requests, and any concerns with professionalism and care
  • Process payments accurately and maintain financial records
  • Support night audit procedures when required

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Previous reception or front office experience in a hotel environment
  • Excellent communication skills – fluent English, spoken and written
  • A natural ability to make guests feel welcome and valued
  • Professional presentation and a friendly, calm manner
  • Experience with hotel PMS systems (Hotsoft, Opera, or similar preferred)
  • Comfortable with IT systems and accurate with administration
  • Flexibility to work shifts including weekends and bank holidays
  • Knowledge of Dublin and Ballsbridge is a plus

DESIRABLE

  • Experience in a 4-star or boutique hotel environment
  • Hospitality qualification or relevant training
  • Additional languages are always welcome

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: €27,000.00-€35,000.00 per year
