Full job description
The IT Helpdesk Engineer primarily provides second-level technical support to customers and end users of our services throughout Ireland and the UK. They are also responsible for responding to, documenting and resolving Help Desk tickets in a timely manner according to SLA. The Helpdesk Engineer must have excellent customer service, problem solving and organisational skills to diagnose, evaluate and resolve complex problem situations, or as appropriate, escalate to appropriate IT staff members or external providers.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Customer Service Manager the Helpdesk Engineer’s core responsibilities will involve:
· Providing exceptional customer service via remote support, phone, email and on-site as appropriate.
· Resolving customer software issues relating to Windows Printing, Scanning, Network and Desktop environment as well as cloud based Print Management system, e.g. PrinterOn, ePRINTit, PrintAudit.
· Resolve hardware issues, mainly relating to printer hardware and self-service payment devices (card + cash).
· Routine administration of office IT environment, including Windows Desktop, Office 365, Network and Telephony/VOIP environment.
In addition to the above core responsibilities, the successful applicant will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of other leading-edge technologies. Previous experience in any of these areas would be a distinct advantage.
· Print hardware (mostly MFP, laser type) maintenance and servicing.
· Windows 10, 11 Desktop deployment, cloning and security techniques. Also Windows Desktop hardware maintenance and diagnostics.
· Self-service payment device technologies, e.g. MDB, SIO, Nayax/Marshall, etc
· Help Desk Administration (e.g. SpiceWorks) and Remote Desktop (e.g. TeamViewer) support environments.
· 3D Print & Design Technologies
Other areas of experience that would also be beneficial:
· Document scanning technologies, TWAIN, WIA, etc.
· Firewall, Proxy, TCP/IP and Network Administration
· Scripting techniques including Microsoft Visual Basic / Macros, JavaScript, batch files.
· VOIP / SIP technologies.
· Kiosk assembly, including fitting and wiring of components.
· Website administration using WordPress, Elementor and related tools, plugins.
· Software requirements definition to support on-going product development.
Personal Skills
The successful candidate must have strong problem-solving skills, and take a structured approach to problems. They must also possess the ability to manage and prioritise own tasks, resolving issues in a timely manner.
