Our Erasmus+ Programme

Capacity Ireland is a community-based training provider offering high-quality training and work experience that provides our participants with learning and employment opportunities. Capacity Ireland is offering 3 month fully funded Erasmus+ Programme placements in Porto. You do not need to be in full-time education to apply. This is open to anyone seeking a unique, beneficial and once in a lifetime learning opportunity abroad.

Departure date for the flight to Portugal will be in mid September.

Company Description

BASE atelier cowork is a workspace located in central Porto, where I develop my artistic work as a visual artist and ceramicist. Half of the studio is dedicated to the production of my own ceramic pieces— Filipa Viana (either handmade or created using plaster molds ) as part of a personal brand. The other half functions as a learning space, hosting regular ceramic classes and workshops for small groups.

The studio operates daily as a professional workspace and also hosts educational sessions that require preparation and technical support.

Role Description:

During this 3-month internship at Base Atelier, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to deepen their skills in ceramics while actively participating in the day-to-day workings of a multidisciplinary studio. This includes both hands-on support in the production process and involvement in educational activities.

The internship will be fully supervised, with close one-on-one collaboration throughout. This structure ensures continuous guidance, practical demonstrations, and regular feedback during all stages of the work.

Required Applicant Profile:

  • Preparing clay bodies for handbuilding (laminating, cutting, recycling)
  • Casting ceramic pieces using slip and plaster molds
  • Finishing author pieces (cleaning edges, smoothing surfaces)
  • Assisting in the manual production of small-batch collections for my ceramic brand
  • Preparing and applying slips (engobes)
  • Supporting glaze testing and experimental processes
  • Helping set up the studio before classes and workshops
  • Assisting with studio organisation after classes, including caring for
  • participants’ work (cleaning, drying, and storing pieces)
  • Participating in kiln loading, unloading and firing processes
  • General studio organisation, including materials and tools management

Vocational Training Course

As part of our Erasmus+ Programme, all our participants are enrolled in a vocational training course in Digital Media

  • Lectures, guided group work and assessments will take place before and during your Erasmus+ placement remotely through your laptop.
  • Lectures start before our participants begin their work placement, this will be the two weeks leading to your fly out date.
  • There will be several assignments and/or exams during the 3 months depending on which course you are in.
  • It is mandatory for all participants to complete all aspects of the course before and during their Erasmus+ Programme work placement.

  • To be eligible applicants must be currently residing within the Ireland. Have an irish postal address, bank account and must have the right to live and work in Ireland.
  • Students are not eligible - we are unable to accept applications from individuals looking for ‘year in industry’ placements.
  • Placements are for fixed periods of 92 days (13 weeks) and it is a requirement that you spend the full period in your destination country. The start date (flight out to your host destination) will be in mid September. The end date will be 91 days after departure.
  • There will be several online sessions of preparatory training that will be done remotely (1 - 3 hours each) before our participants fly out. At these preparatory training sessions, you will receive information on the programme, meet your lecturers, other participants and start your vocational course. Attendance at these preparatory training sessions is compulsory. They will start the week before you're due to leave.
  • Applications are only being accepted for September - December 2026.
  • If you don't fill out a form YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. After you fill out the form you will need to send us an updated CV (with your own name and surname in the file name).

Interviews are completed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
