Full job description

Full Job Description:

At Occu we look after more than 4,500 houses and apartments, with more being added over the coming months. A fresh, well kept finish is one of the first things a resident notices, whether they are moving into a new home or walking through their own hallway. It is part of what we promise every resident.

We are hiring a Painter to keep our developments looking their best, and to be a familiar, friendly face to the people who live in them. If your background is in painting and decorating, this is the job for you.

What we are offering

  • €40,000 to €43,000 a year, depending on experience
  • Company vehicle for work travel, or mileage if you prefer to use your own
  • 40 hour week, Monday to Friday
  • Full PPE and modern equipment
  • Permanent, full time contract. Not sub contract, not agency
  • Company pension and a contribution towards your healthcare
  • Employee assistance programme, parking on site, company events, bike to work scheme

What you will be doing

Two sides to the job. The first is turnovers, getting a home ready for the next resident:

  • Repainting walls, ceilings, doors and woodwork between tenancies
  • Preparing surfaces properly before you start, so the finish lasts. Cleaning, sanding, filling cracks and priming
  • Working to the turnaround dates, so homes are ready on time and to standard

The second is the common areas, the parts of the building every resident sees every day:

  • Painting and touching up hallways, stairwells, lobbies, bin stores and external woodwork
  • Mixing and matching paint, stains and finishes so the result is consistent from one block to the next
  • Spotting what needs doing before anyone has to ask, and getting it sorted

Also part of the job:

  • Sheeting up and protecting the area, and leaving it clean at the end of the day
  • Small repairs and touch ups while you are on site
  • Looking after your tools and equipment, and flagging when paint or materials are running low
  • Working safely, wearing your PPE, and reporting anything that looks like a hazard

What we are looking for

  • Around 2 years of experience painting and decorating, or a trade qualification and the appetite to learn quickly
  • A full clean B driving licence
  • A good eye for detail and pride in a tidy finish
  • Someone dependable who works well on their own initiative
  • Comfortable having a chat with residents, because you will be working in occupied buildings and seeing the same faces every week

Please do not rule yourself out. If you have solid hands on experience but not every box ticked, apply anyway. We would rather meet you.

Where you will be working

Occu developments across Dublin. You will be moving between our sites, in a company vehicle or your own with mileage paid.

Benefits:

  • Bike to work scheme
  • Company van
  • Employee assistance program
  • Employee discounts
  • Health insurance contribution
  • On-site parking
  • Pension contribution

Pay: €40,000.00-€43,000.00 per year

Licence/Certification:

  • Full Driving Licence (required)

Work Location: On the road
