Conference Interpreting Project Manager at CONTEXT (Galway area)

For the successful end-to-end organisation of multilingual events

[12-month contract with option of permanent employment]

Conference Interpreting is one of the key services that Context provides to large international corporations at locations across Europe, as well as to Irish Government Departments.

The role

You will be part of the high-performing Context Conference team with responsibility for the successful end-to-end organisation of multilingual events to and from all world languages. You will closely work with a large pool of approved conference interpreters from various cultural contexts, and support clients, technical partners, and subcontractors to successfully deliver high-profile meetings both on site and online. Your responsibilities include commercial and strategic planning. Your core team of 4 project managers with equal responsibility will be a valuable resource to you, providing guidance, mentoring, and hands-on support.

Key skills and qualifications required

  • A postgraduate qualification in Conference Interpreting; or a degree in languages, linguistics, or a related humanities field; or a blend of formal education (degree in Hospitality, Business, Tourism, Marketing) with practical event management experience and previous exposure to quality management processes.
  • Crucial skills and competences in multicultural communication and project management:
  • Thorough understanding of conference interpreting across EU and world markets.
  • Mature communicator, at eye level with corporate clients and interpreters of diverse cultures.
  • Able to analyse complex issues, develop creative solutions, and make timely decisions.
  • Competent to advise clients on solutions for multilingual events, in-person, virtual and hybrid.
  • Technical mindset and interest in web communication, sound engineering, AI-MI platforms.
  • Performing well in a close-knit and self-managing team with joint decision-making power.
  • Several years of project management experience in the language services industry, and a deep understanding of the conference interpreting profession; or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the translation and localisation industries and their quality systems (e.g. ISO9001, ISO17100) and workflows; extensive professional experience in a client-facing project or event management role.
