Job Description – Dental Nurse/Receptionist

Dental Care Ireland, Castlebar, Co Mayo, have an excellent opportunity for a Dental Receptionist to join our established practice. We just won 'Great Place to Work 2026' as voted by our employees. It is an exciting and ideal time to join our team.

  • This is a permanent, part-time role, 4 days, 35 hours per week. Some flexibility on exact days/hours may be possible.
  • 1+ years' experience in a medical/clinical admin or receptionist role is required.
  • Dental reception experience is preferred.

Reporting to: Practice Manager

Summary of Role

Tasks/Responsibilities

Reception

  • Greeting and registering patients on a day to day basis at the reception desk.
  • Providing information and reassurance to patients about their treatment.
  • Handling, recording and resolving patient complaints in line with company guidelines.
  • Phone and email management throughout the day.
  • Daily cashing up exercise for the practice.
  • Appointment book management to ensure maximisation of working hours.
  • Providing support to clinicians by sending prescriptions, referral letters, x-rays etc.
  • Performing any local admin tasks such as filing/scanning/lodgements/post etc.
  • Payor claim administration for GMS/PRSI/VHI/DeCare .
  • Completion of various spreadsheets for accounts purposes (i.e. cash sheet, trackers etc) .
  • Key holder duties.

Essential

  • 1+ years' experience in a medical/clinical admin or receptionist role is required.
  • Authorised to work in Ireland.
  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
  • Fluent in written and oral English.
  • Must have working knowledge in use of Microsoft Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and mail.
