The Position - Tour Driver-Guide

Joining Irish Experience Tours is a chance to step into a tight knit team. It’s a dynamic and rewarding role for those passionate about Ireland, its culture, landscapes and traditions. As a Driver-Guide, you’ll lead small groups on authentic, immersive adventures, blending expert driving with engaging storytelling.

You’ll be part of helping guests to really enjoy their holiday, not just by showing them Ireland’s highlights, but by creating the warm, personal touches that turn a great trip into an unforgettable one.

Main responsibilities:

Tour Guiding: Lead our guests on 5–13 day small-group tours across Ireland, bringing the country to life through engaging storytelling about history, culture, folklore and natural beauty. You’ll act as both driver and guide, ensuring every journey is informative, fun and memorable.

Vehicle Care & Safety: Take pride in your coach by keeping it clean, comfortable and road-ready. Carry out daily safety checks and maintain high standards of presentation throughout the tour.

Guest Experience & Care: Welcome guests on and off the vehicle, assist with luggage and guide short scenic walks or optional activities. You’ll be central to guest safety, comfort and their overall enjoyment, helping them to relax and make the most of their holiday.

Operations & Administration: Manage day-to-day tour logistics, including hotel check-ins, attraction entries, incident reporting, and regular communication with the Managing Director. .

Adaptability & Flexibility: Every group is unique, and no two tours are exactly the same. You’ll be ready to adapt to different guest interests and paces, from active days of exploration to more relaxed cultural experiences.

What We’re Looking For

  • Irish Bus Licence (D or D1): this is essential, though we can support candidates currently working towards certification
  • Knowledge of Ireland: a strong understanding of Ireland’s history, culture, folklore and landscapes
  • Languages: fluent English is required
  • Cultural Connection: a genuine love of Ireland, its culture, and history.
  • Experience: previous work in tourism, outdoor adventure or customer service is a bonus
  • People Skills: personable, patient, reliable and an excellent communicator, with the ability to make every guest feel welcome and cared for.

Desirable Extras

  • First Aid certification
  • Guiding or hospitality qualifications.
  • A flair for storytelling, humour or other creative ways to engage guests.
