Full job description
Location: Limerick
Reporting to: HSEQ Manager
Hours: 40 hours
Job Purpose
The objective of this position is to develop a robust, consistent and appropriate approach to Health and Safety, lead the site team to comply with Country specific HSEQ, Customer HSEQ and Construction Regulations ensuring compliance, objectives are met and implemented.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote the ISS H&S Culture on site.
- Deploy the requirements of the ISS Safety Management System.
- Carry out accident investigation in order to identify route causes and ensure control measures are identified and applied.
- Ensure hazards are identified, risks are documented and adequate control measure are implemented to reduce the risk.
- Conduct task specific risk assessments and prepare method statements.
- Support the completion of weekly safe plan of action.
- Ensure that HSE competences are assessed at all levels and any shortfalls addressed to meet the requirements of Irish legislation.
- Ensure that there is an effective audit, training and communication programme.
- Ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed on site.
- Conduct health and safety inspections and compile reports.
- Support management to promote a positive safety culture through effective leadership.
- Assist, identify and champion best practice.
- Delivery of training including ISS HSEQ Induction, chemical awareness, manual handling and task specific training.
- Prepare and deliver Toolbox Talks and Safety Communications.
- Represent the company at white board and client meetings.
Other Responsibilities
- Ensure accidents are properly reported, investigated and appropriate measures taken to minimise their recurrence.
- Carry out audits and training as required.
- Ensure that staff are consulted on matters that affect their health and safety.
- Provide professional advice to management and frontline teams.
- Promote ISS HSEQ Initiatives, Creating Safe Spaces Behaviours, ISS Safety Rules, Safety Observation Reporting, Environmental Initiatives and strive for continuous improvement.
- Understand how ISO fits into daily business operations.
- Read, understand and work in accordance with the company’s HSEQ Policies.
- Complete tasks in accordance with company HSEQ procedures and work instructions.
- Support the implementation, operation and continuous improvement of our HSEQ Management Systems at site level.
- Manage complaints and record centrally.
Qualifications:
- Third level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (minimum Cert/NEBOSH in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Health and Safety Advisor role
Highly Desirable:
- Membership of IOSH (or similar professional body).
- Competency in the Facility Services & Construction Sector.
- Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
Skills:
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Completing site inspections and audits.
- Training delivery and presentation skills.
- Experience developing risk assessments and method statements

Other features of the job:
It may be necessary to work alternative hours, shift patterns or unsociable hours, including weekends and sometimes more than contracted hours. As part of your job, you will be expected to attend training events and/or meetings and travel to other locations may be required. Local requirements will govern your patterns and locations of work.
