About the role

We're a growing B2B SaaS company building software that solves real, complex problems for business customers. We run a lean, senior team, make decisions quickly, and value ownership over process.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who loves the craft. You'll spend your time writing and reviewing production code, owning your part of the architecture, and helping keep the platform reliable and well-built. You'll work as part of a small, experienced team where everyone is expected to take real ownership of their work.

What you'll do

• Write production-quality backend code in Java (Spring Boot) day to day
• Help design and evolve system architecture across the backend, frontend (Angular), and AWS infrastructure
• Conduct substantive PR reviews and resolve complex, cross-cutting technical issues
• Help maintain the AWS environment: reliability, security, cost, and scalability
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and observability (logging, metrics, alerting)
• Make practical, day-to-day use of AI development tools in your workflow
• Contribute to the company's ISO 27001 readiness programme and embed security thinking into how you build
• Uphold high engineering standards: code quality, testing, and documentation

What we're looking for

Essential

• 7+ years' professional software engineering experience
• Deep, production-level expertise in Java and Spring Boot — comfortable working in the backend at depth
• Proven experience building and scaling SaaS systems (microservices, event-driven patterns, API design, data modelling)
• Hands-on AWS experience (EC2/ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch) — comfortable working in the infrastructure, not just using it
• Enough Angular fluency to contribute to frontend work and reviews (you won't write Angular daily)
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical colleagues
• Practical, hands-on engagement with AI development tools
• Based in Ireland with full, unrestricted right to work

Nice to have

• Experience in a fast-moving, product-led environment
• Hands-on ISO 27001 (or equivalent) experience
• SaaS architecture knowledge: multi-tenancy, subscription billing, usage-based metering
• Experience building CI/CD and developer tooling from a low base

Pay: Up to €110,000.00 per year
