Job Specification: Junior Draughts Person Engineering / Metal Fabrication

**Reports To: * Technical Lead

Company Overview:

We are a leading CE certified engineering and metal fabrication company providing precision-engineered components for construction, industrial, and bespoke applications. We are committed to delivering high-quality fabrication work with an emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and innovation.

Job Purpose:

Working with Senior Draughts Person to accurately measure, design, and produce detailed technical drawings for metal fabrication projects. The role requires excellent proficiency in AutoCAD, with experience of SolidWorks an advantage, strong communication skills, and an in-depth understanding of metal fabrication processes to support the technical and production teams from concept to execution.

Key Responsibilities:

· Undertake precise site measurements and translate them into accurate technical drawings.

· Prepare detailed fabrication drawings using AutoCAD / SolidWorks and other CAD software as required.

· Ensure all drawings are in compliance with CE marking and relevant industry standards.

· Collaborate with the Technical Lead and Production Manager to ensure feasibility and clarity of designs.

· Revise and update drawings based on feedback from workshop or site teams.

· Maintain organised records of drawing versions and document revisions.

· Assist in creating bill of materials and fabrication lists for production use.

· Support the design and development of bespoke fabrication solutions as needed.

· Attend site visits and meetings as required to understand project scope and constraints.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

· Proven experience in a draughting or engineering role within the metal fabrication industry.

· Proficient in SolidWorks and capable of producing highly detailed and accurate 2D and 3D drawings.

· Strong site measurement skills and ability to work from architectural or structural plans.

· Knowledge of CE marking requirements and fabrication standards (e.g. EN 1090).

· Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical documentation and drawings.

· Strong organisational and communication skills.

· Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

· Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

· Full driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as needed.

Desirable Attributes:

· Experience in structural steel detailing or architectural metalwork.

· Familiarity with other CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla Structures).

· Understanding of manufacturing and installation constraints in metal fabrication.

· Experience with bill of materials and nesting software.
