Quantity Surveyor (Junior to Intermediate)
We are seeking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join our team, complementing our continued growth and expanding project portfolio. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the commercial management of assigned projects, including cost control, procurement, contract administration, and subcontractor management, from project inception through to final account. The role requires close collaboration with project teams to ensure the delivery of sound commercial outcomes, effective risk management, and the achievement of both project-specific and organisational objectives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Procurement and Contract Administration
- Prepare and manage tender processes, including the evaluation and selection of subcontractors, and the negotiation and execution of subcontract agreements
- Administer subcontracts and oversee their financial and commercial performance through to final account
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of private contract conditions, insurances, and warranties
Cost Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, measurements, and document control systems in accordance with company procedures
- Undertake cost value reconciliations, forecasting, and contract value reviews, providing independent and objective analysis
- Prepare and agree valuations and variations, ensuring these are appropriately substantiated and documented
- Maintain current projected final accounts and ensure timely submission in accordance with reporting schedules
- Support the organisation's cash flow management processes across live projects
Commercial Oversight and Risk Management
- Liaise with site management to provide commercial input and, where necessary, constructive challenge to inform decision-making
- Identify, assess, and report on commercial risks and opportunities arising during the course of the project
- Exercise sound commercial judgement and demonstrate ownership of outcomes across areas of responsibility
General Requirements
- Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders
- Utilise relevant technology platforms in the performance of day-to-day duties
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of agreed rules of measurement
- Demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects
- Exhibit effective interpersonal and negotiation skills in dealings with subcontractors and project stakeholders
Experience and Skills Required
- Demonstrated experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry, encompassing tendering, procurement, cost management, valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Sound knowledge of private sector contracts, subcontract procurement processes, contract administration, and commercial risk management
- Experience in cost value reconciliation, cost reporting, and cash flow oversight
- Strong negotiation capability and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with project teams
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics is required
- A minimum of 3 years' relevant industry experience is required
Pay: €45,000.00-€75,000.00 per year
