Part-Time Baker / Café Chef

We’re looking for an experienced Baker / Café Chef to join our coffee shop on a part-time basis.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys baking, food preparation and helping develop a simple, high-quality café menu. We’re looking for someone with experience who can work independently, stay organised and take ownership of the food side of the café.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for preparing our daily food and baked offering, as well as helping us develop and improve a small menu that works well in a busy coffee shop environment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Baking and finishing frozen pastries each morning
  • Baking fresh items in-house
  • Preparing grab-and-go items
  • Preparing toasties/sandwiches for the day
  • Helping create and test a small smoothie menu
  • Helping develop seasonal or new food items for the café
  • Managing food preparation levels and ensuring enough product is available for service
  • Monitoring ingredients and supplies and helping manage ordering/restocking
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and organisation
  • Helping minimise food waste and keep the menu practical and cost-effective

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience as a baker, café chef, pastry chef, cook or similar
  • Is confident baking cakes, breads and simple café-style items from scratch
  • Has experience with food preparation and working to consistent recipes
  • Is organised and comfortable managing their own prep schedule
  • Understands food hygiene, storage and stock rotation
  • Can work independently and take initiative
  • Enjoys experimenting with recipes and contributing ideas to a menu
  • Understands the importance of consistency, presentation and portion control

This role would suit someone who enjoys the creative side of food but also understands the practical side of running a small café menu.

Hours

Part-time

The role will primarily involve morning/daytime preparation and baking. Exact days and hours can be discussed depending on experience and availability.

What We Offer

You’ll have the opportunity to help shape the food offering of the coffee shop, rather than simply following an established menu. We want someone who can bring ideas, develop recipes with us and create a small selection of food and baked goods that customers genuinely look forward to.
