McCarthy Walsh, Chartered Certified Accountants (www.mccarthywalsh.ie), is a progressive dynamic firm, based in Dublin 2, providing a range of professional services and advisory to clients in the SME sector.

The firm operates general accountancy services as well as providing a premium Statutory Audit service to its clients through the audit registration www.companyauditor4u.ie. The firm also provides Corporate Recovery & Insolvency services.

From our audit sector to insolvency appointments, the firm provides an exposure to a spectrum of clients in the SME sector. The firm is a member of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and is an ACCA Platinum training provider.

The Positions / Roles:

The roles represents an excellent opportunity for both:

  • GRADUATE TRAINEE (preferably business or accountancy qualification)

AND

  • PART QUALIFIED ACCOUNTANT with 1/2 years + practice experience

to join a progressive firm offering strong career opportunities and an excellent study package.

  • Trainees will have wide ranging roles in delivering solutions to SME clients, and will be working as part of the team in Audit / Insolvency / General Compliance services:

1)

AUDIT

  • The firm is an SME market leader in the provision of statutory audit and assurance services to both small companies (turnover to €15 million) and medium companies (turnover to €50 million)
  • carrying out statutory audits for clients across range of industries and sectors including service / retail / technology / construction / distribution and motor industries.
  • Our audits include specialised sectors such as the Charity and Not- for profit sector, arts and film industries, and Central Bank regulated entities.
  • The firm acts as a component auditor for Irish subsidiaries of international clients.
  • Candidates will obtain a premier training in auditing in accordance with best practice and audit procedures.

2)

ACCOUNTS PREPARATION, TAXATION, COMPANY SECRETARIAL and COMPLIANCE:

  • Experience will be gained in :
  • Annual Accounts Preparation under FRS 102 / FRS 102 1A / FRS 105;
  • Statutory Financial Statements in accordance with company law;
  • Bookkeeping packages overview and client support;
  • VAT and Payroll Returns filing;
  • Company Secretarial filing - CRO Returns / RBO Returns

3)

CORPORATE RECOVERY & INSOLVENCY

The firm provides Corporate Recovery & Insolvency services including taking formal appointments in Creditors Voluntary Liquidations (CVLs) and Members voluntary Liquidations (MVLs);

  • Experience will be gained in liquidation appointments and procedures;
  • Investigations and Reporting: candidates will assist with investigations into a company insolvency, directors' conduct and reporting to the Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA);
  • Realisation of Assets; Liaising with professionals and on-site visits; dealing with creditors claims; Forensic Investigation; Informal Restructuring.

Position / Employment Type:

  • The position will involve a permanent contract, with paid study leave and exam fees, in line with ACCA guidelines, leading to the ACCA qualification.

Position Requirements:

  • Positions would suit a Graduate trainee and/or a candidate with 1/2 year general practice accountancy experience looking to develop Audit and Insolvency skills in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to tight deadlines
  • Team worker and highly motivated
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer literate in particular Excel
  • Driving Licence preferable not mandatory

Salary:

  • Salary €28K to €38K DOE. The firm is recruiting BOTH candidates at graduate trainee level AND experienced practice candidate with 1/2 YR + experience.
