EXPERIENCED BARTENDER / MIXOLOGIST

Copper Coast Inn – Kill, Co. Waterford

The Copper Coast Inn is recruiting an experienced Bartender / Mixologist to join our team.

We are looking for someone with strong all-round hospitality experience who is equally comfortable behind a busy bar and on the restaurant floor. Alongside excellent bar service, the role requires solid knowledge of cocktails, Irish whiskey, craft beer and premium spirits.

This position also involves full food service. The successful candidate will be expected to take food orders, serve meals, run food from the kitchen, clear and reset tables, and look after customers throughout their dining experience.

This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for someone who can work confidently across both bar and restaurant service, maintain high standards under pressure, and contribute to the overall customer experience.

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have:

* Minimum 3 years’ bar or hospitality experience

* Strong mixology and cocktail-making skills

* The ability to confidently prepare both classic and contemporary cocktails

* Good knowledge of Irish whiskey, including different styles, distilleries, flavour profiles and serving recommendations

* Good knowledge and genuine interest in craft beer, draught beer and different beer styles

* Strong knowledge of spirits and premium drinks

* Previous experience in restaurant and food service

* Confidence taking food orders and serving meals

* Experience running food from the kitchen and managing tables during busy periods

* Good knowledge of food hygiene, food safety and allergen procedures

* The ability to recommend suitable drinks alongside a customer’s meal

* Excellent customer service and communication skills

* The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

* High standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation

* A strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of a team

Responsibilities

The role will include:

* Delivering a consistently high standard of bar and restaurant service

* Preparing cocktails accurately and consistently

* Pouring and presenting draught beer to a high standard

* Advising customers on whiskey, craft beer, cocktails and premium spirits

* Taking food and drink orders

* Serving food directly to customers

* Running meals from the kitchen to tables

* Making sure meals reach the correct table promptly and professionally

* Checking on customers during their meal

* Clearing plates, glasses and tables

* Cleaning and resetting tables between customers

* Communicating clearly with the kitchen throughout service

* Following all food hygiene and allergen procedures

* Upselling food, drinks and premium products where appropriate

* Maintaining strong knowledge of our food and drinks offering

* Assisting with cocktail prep, garnishes, stock and bar organisation

* Keeping both bar and restaurant areas clean, stocked and professional

* Providing excellent hospitality to regulars and visitors alike

Whiskey & The Lost Hour

One of the key areas we are developing at the Copper Coast Inn is our hidden whiskey speakeasy, The Lost Hour.

We carry an extensive and growing Irish whiskey range and offer curated whiskey flights and premium drinking experiences.

Applicants should therefore have either strong existing Irish whiskey knowledge or a genuine interest in developing expert-level knowledge in the category.

Previous experience with whiskey tastings, whiskey flights, food pairings, cocktail development or premium spirits service would be a major advantage.

Who this role suits

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality, food and drinks.

You should be just as comfortable making a quality cocktail or pouring a perfect pint as you are taking a table’s order, serving meals and providing professional restaurant service.

This role will suit someone who wants to build their knowledge, take responsibility and help raise standards, rather than simply complete a shift behind the bar.
