Full job description

A vacancy has arisen within the Medical Records Department for the position of Medical Records Administrator. This role is a Permanent, Part Time Role (22.5 Hours per Week).


The Role:

  • Retrieving, preparing, scanning and indexing of all patient charts on a daily basis for all departments within the Galway Clinic.
  • Running quality checks prior to chart destruction.
  • Identifying, assessing and correcting any duplication of Medical Record Numbers.
  • Dealing with general queries from within the Galway Clinic and outside
  • Dealing with Patient requests for the release of the health records
  • Day to day running of the office which includes all administrative tasks and operating the Meditech system as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Medical Records Policies and Procedures, including Confidentiality and Data Protection
  • Any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time


The Candidate:

  • Excellent Word processing skills - e.g. MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Previous experience in a similar role - desirable not essential
  • Proficiency in medical terminology - desirable not essential
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Must be experienced in working in a busy environment
  • Confidentiality and accuracy is of extreme importance
  • Must be able to work within a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills and previous experience in dealing with the public
  • The ability to be flexible within your working environment
