The Technical Officer will play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of undergraduate teaching programmes, experimental project work and research activities within the Discipline of Mechanical, Manufacturing and Biomedical Engineering. They will support the implementation and operation of mechanical and manufacturing devices ensuring continuity of research and teaching activities throughout the Discipline as well as providing training and demonstrations to students and researchers.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine interest in STEM particularly in mechanical engineering and/or electronic engineering. The candidate will be a strong team player, highly motivated, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and show a proactive drive to implement change.
This is a permanent full-time role in Ireland. We require that you hold immigration permission that allows full-time employment in this role. For this position we will not be able to support new employment permit applications.
Post Status: Permanent
Hours of Post: 36.5 hours per week
Salary: Appointment will be made on the Technical Officer Pay Scale Salary Scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy [€40,743 to €61,557 per annum] New Entrants to the Public Sector will be appointed on Point 1 of the Scale, €40,743 per annum Qualifications for New Staff (from 1 January 2007) Entry to the profession will require relevant Honours degree. National Certificate on Entry- Qualifications for Existing Staff (before 1 January 2007) The preferred candidate if an MSc holder on entry, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience (that must be relevant), may be appointed at Senior Technical Officer level.

- Applicants must have at least 2 years’ practical experience in an engineering environment. Applicants should clearly describe this experience and how they obtained their knowledge.
- Candidates should show how their experience aligns with the requirements of this post, as listed above under ‘Knowledge & Experience’ and ‘Skills’. Applicants should give specific examples as evidence of their experience and the skills sought.
- Candidates should demonstrate through past example, their ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.
