Category Buyer – Pharmacy & Healthcare Wholesale

We are looking for a commercially sharp Category Buyer to manage a supplier and product portfolio within our ethical/prescription medicines category.

This is not a transactional purchasing role. You will own supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms, track rebate and margin performance, manage pricing and product file activity, and use data to identify opportunities across a pharmacy services business supporting around independent pharmacies in Ireland.

You will work closely with buying, pricing, finance, master data, operations, sales and commercial analytics teams to ensure the category performs commercially and operationally.

What you will own

You will manage an assigned portfolio across prescription medicines, which may include generics, branded medicines or unlicensed medicines. You will lead day-to-day supplier conversations, negotiate pricing, rebates and annual terms, monitor supplier performance, resolve pricing and supply issues, and turn commercial data into clear recommendations.

What we are looking for

The ideal person will have 3–5 years’ buying, procurement, category or commercial experience in a B2C, retail, wholesale, pharmacy-services, healthcare or FMCG environment. You should be comfortable owning supplier relationships, negotiating commercial outcomes, working with pricing and margin data, and using Excel to support decisions.

Experience in pharmacy, pharmaceutical buying, prescription medicines or regulated product categories would be a strong advantage, but strong commercial buying experience in a comparable environment will also be considered.

IMDHP

Pay: €80,000.00-€85,000.00 per year
