Key responsibilities

  • Providing safe, respectful and person-centred care during planned and non-emergency patient transport.
  • Assessing and treating patients within the EMT scope of practice, current PHECC Clinical Practice Guidelines and Medicore’s clinical governance arrangements.
  • Providing medical cover at concerts, sporting fixtures, festivals, corporate events and other public gatherings.
  • Driving company ambulances, patient transport vehicles and support vehicles safely and in accordance with road traffic legislation and company procedures.
  • Assisting patients with wheelchair, stretcher and seated transfers.
  • Completing vehicle, equipment and medication checks before and after duty.
  • Maintaining vehicle cleanliness, infection prevention and control standards, and operational readiness.
  • Completing accurate electronic patient care records using CrewTech.
  • Submitting incident, safeguarding and operational reports where required.
  • Providing clear clinical handovers and communicating professionally with patients, relatives, healthcare facilities, event organisers and colleagues.
  • Protecting patient dignity, confidentiality, consent and welfare at all times.

Working arrangements

The position involves rostered shifts, including evenings, weekends, public holidays and event work. Some duties may be outdoors or require travel to different operational or event locations.

Essential requirements

  • Current registration in the EMT division of the PHECC Register and a valid PHECC Practitioner Licence.
  • Full driving licence valid in Ireland and appropriate for the vehicles to be driven.
  • Satisfactory driving history, subject to company and insurer review.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Ireland.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and complete clinical records in English.
  • Professional, reliable and respectful approach to patient care.
  • Ability to meet the clinical, driving and manual-handling requirements of the role, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
  • Willingness to complete Garda Vetting, reference checks, occupational health clearance, a clinical assessment and a company driving assessment.

Desirable qualifications and experience
