Full job description

The Role

The Automation Controls Engineer is a highly technical role that is crucial to the success of producing the company’s high quality automation equipment for use in the Medical Device and Pharma industries. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Controls Engineer to work as part of the engineering project team. You will have the opportunity of working with leading edge automation technologies such as robotics, vision systems, drives, controls systems etc. The role contributes significantly to the continued success of Ward Automation.

Responsibilities

Responsible for developing the control programs
Liaising with the design team specify controls systems hardware
Research and co-ordinate the introduction and implementation of new control technologies
Working with the mechanical engineers systematically debug the machine programs
Liaise and communicate with the different project team members
Responsible for ensuring that timelines and targets are achieved

Key Skills

Programming of PLC’s, HMI’s, Robots, Servos, Instrumentation devices
Configuring of coms and networks
Ability to understand the controls and functionality of each machine area
Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic drawings
Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
Excellent communication skills
Experience in Machine Vision and electrical CAD software is an advantage

Experience/Qualifications

Qualified to Honours degree (level 8) in a controls related discipline

Three years’ experience in a similar role
