Job Title: Lead Operator
Location: Little Island, Cork **Own Transport Required**
Contract Type: 11 Month Employment Contract
Shift: Day Shift
We are recruiting for our client based in Little Island to support coating operations in a controlled (cleanroom) environment. You'll carry out coating, inspection and testing activities, support operators on the floor, and help ensure work is completed on time and to quality standards.
Due to the location of this role, own transportation is required as public transport is not readily available.
This position is responsible for providing hands-on medical device coating services on schedule to meet the requirements of customers as well as providing leadership to the team of Operators by interpreting instruction from Manufacturing supervisors and the Manufacturing Manager, facilitating production and ensuring quality procedures established per ISO 13485. At times, this position may also include administrative, logistic, manufacturing and quality functions as required, e.g. But not limited to Shipping and Receiving, warehouse co-ordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform coating, inspections and testing in line with work instructions
- Support delivery of the daily/weekly production plan and raise any issues impacting output or testing
- Package both approved and rejected products according to procedures
- Assist Operators with machine set-up, coating operations and packaging as needed
- Monitor operator workmanship and machine performance; troubleshoot issues and escalate to Engineering/Management when required
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and the site Quality Management System (QMS)
- Receive and inspect customer parts and raw materials
- Maintain a clean, organised work area (including cleanroom, lab, warehouse and storage areas)
- Promote good team communication and suggest improvements to processes, equipment, staffing or schedules
- Support continuous improvement projects (efficiency, quality, cost and revenue opportunities) in collaboration with management
- Follow all safety policies and support other duties as required
What We're Looking For
- Manufacturing experience, ideally in a controlled environment/cleanroom
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills (able to identify issues, gather data and recommend actions)
- Computer skills: Excel, Word, and comfortable learning new systems
- Knowledge of 5S is an advantage
- Professional, detail-focused and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Working Environment (Cleanroom & PPE)
- ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment
- PPE is required and may include gloves, lab coat, hair/beard covers, shoe covers, safety glasses, hearing protection, face shield and/or respiratory mask
- Role includes required training aligned to ISO 13485 and relevant FDA regulations, plus internal procedures (as applicable)
Physical Requirements
- Standing/walking for extended periods
- Regular bending/stooping/kneeling and reaching above shoulder/below waist
- Involves heavy lifting up to 50Ibs.
- May use ladders up to 6 feet
