EHR Clinical Build Team Member


Location: Dublin or Kilkenny (Hyrbid)
Job type: Specified Purpose

Overview of role:

The Clinical Build Team Member will play a key role in supporting the implementation of the Cúram Electronic Health Record (EHR) Programme across UPMC Ireland. Reporting to the Quality Risk Management Lead, this highly skilled role provides specialist MEDITECH Expanse build expertise across multiple clinical workstreams and integration projects. The Clinical Build Team Member will operate as a flexible programme resource, deploying across priority clinical domains in response to programme demand, resource constraints, and implementation priorities. The successful candidate will provide hands-on workflow design, testing, optimisation, validation and integration support while collaborating with clinical, operational, and technical teams. Assisting in executing tasks within the project scope and governance. The role requires a strong understanding of clinical workflows, EHR implementation methodologies, and the ability to lead build activities across multiple concurrent projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical workflow Design and Build:

  • Act as a subject matter expert in MEDITECH Expanse configuration and clinical workflow design.
  • Translate approved future-state clinical workflows into effective system configuration.
  • In collaboration with Nordic and Clinical Workstream leads, configure and optimise MEDITECH Expanse modules in accordance with programme standards and clinical requirements.
  • Support the design, build, validation, and optimisation of complex clinical workflows across multiple workstreams.
  • Ensure consistency of build standards and configuration approaches across the Clinical Stream.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, usability, automation, and patient safety.
  • Support solution design discussions and provide expert guidance regarding system capabilities and limitations.
  • Collaborate closely with operational leaders and SMEs to validate proposed solutions and designs.


Clinical Systems Integration

  • Support the delivery of clinical integrations involving MEDITECH Expanse and third-party applications.
  • Participate in interface design, workflow validation, testing, and issue resolution activities.
  • Support integration projects involving systems such as, Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS), Diagnostic Imaging, Surveillance, Quality & Risk Management, and other associated clinical solutions.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to resolve workflow and integration issues.
  • Ensure clinical integrity and continuity of information across interconnected systems.


Build, Validation and Testing

  • Lead build and validation activities to ensure quality requirements are adhered to.
  • Participate in unit testing, integrated testing, workflow testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Assist with data validation and migration verification activities where required.
  • Support defect analysis, issue investigation, root cause assessment, and resolution activities.
  • Maintain documentation of build decisions, build standards, testing outcomes, and lessons learned.
  • Support go-live readiness assessments and implementation activities.
  • Contribute to standards development processes and engage with SMEs during design and optimisation discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards (e.g., HIQA and Joint Commission International) as appropriate.


Programme Delivery and Leadership

  • Provide flexible build support across multiple workstreams according to programme priorities and emerging demand.
  • Assist Clinical Stream and Workstream Leads in managing competing priorities and delivery risks.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to project teams regarding Meditech Expanse capabilities and best practices.
  • Support governance processes through the preparation of papers, updates, risk assessments, and implementation documentation.
  • Contribute to programme planning and resource allocation discussions.
  • Escalate risks, dependencies, and issues to the Clinical Stream Lead in a timely manner.
  • Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to workstream members and future operational support teams.


Documentation & Governance:

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including current state/future state maps, risk/issue logs, and change logs, as assigned.
  • Assist in preparing materials for governance processes, such as the Clinical Design Authority and Senior Leadership Team meetings.
  • Support the tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) for inpatient readiness, adoption, and post-go-live performance.
  • Contribute to documenting lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements related to clinical safety and digital health as directed.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Clinical qualification in Nursing, Allied Health, Pharmacy, Healthcare Science, or a related healthcare discipline and /or Health Informatics degree.
  • Registration in good standing with appropriate professional college or regulatory body, if applicable.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Meditech build role.
  • Familiarity with outpatient workflows, clinical documentation, and interdisciplinary care models.
  • Good project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
  • Good analytical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across clinical and operational teams.


Essential Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience within healthcare operations, clinical informatics, EHR implementation, or digital transformation as a build team lead/member/trainer. Experience implementing MEDITECH, particularly PCS and Quality & Surveillance, or equivalent capabilities with other major EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Oracle Health).
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience mapping and building within MEDITECH Expanse.
  • Experience participating in system testing, workflow validation, and go-live activities
  • Good project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across clinical and operational teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

Preferred Experience:



  • Knowledge of clinical decision support, change management methodologies (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR), and regulatory requirements (e.g., documentation standards, medication safety protocols).
  • Training in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean) or project management.
  • Experience working within multi-stream programme environments to include supporting organisations through go-live and stabilisation phases.
