Medical Director (MICGP) | Women's Health

Dublin | Full-Time | Hybrid Working

Lead the Future of Women's Healthcare in Ireland

MatchMedics is delighted to partner with one of Ireland's most respected and progressive healthcare organisations in the appointment of a Medical Director (MICGP) with a specialist interest in Women's Health.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Specialist GP to combine clinical excellence with strategic leadership in a role that will directly influence the future of women's healthcare services nationwide.

As Medical Director, you will lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team, shape service development, contribute to policy and advocacy initiatives, and continue to provide specialist clinical care within a modern Dublin city-based setting.

If you are passionate about women's health, committed to clinical excellence, and motivated by the opportunity to lead meaningful change, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As Medical Director, you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership to an experienced team of doctors and nurses
  • Drive service innovation, quality improvement, and strategic development initiatives
  • Balance hands-on clinical practice with senior management responsibilities
  • Support, mentor, and develop healthcare professionals across the organisation
  • Contribute to education, advocacy, media engagement, and public awareness initiatives
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, policymakers, and government stakeholders
  • Play a key role in shaping the future delivery of women's health services in Ireland

About You

To be considered, you will have:

  • MICGP qualification and Specialist Registration in General Practice with the Irish Medical Council
  • A minimum of four years' post-specialist experience, including experience gained in Ireland
  • A strong clinical interest and demonstrated commitment to women's health
  • Family Planning Certification and LARC certified
  • Excellent leadership, communication, mentoring, and decision-making skills
  • A patient-centred approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications in Women's Health
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Healthcare Management, Leadership, or a related field

Please note: Candidates must be available to commence the role in December 2026.

What's on Offer?

  • Full-time position (35-hour working week)
  • Hybrid working model following probation
  • Competitive executive-level remuneration package
  • 27 days annual leave
  • Paid study leave
  • Medical indemnity insurance provided
  • Opportunity to influence healthcare policy and service delivery at a national level
  • Work alongside highly respected clinicians and healthcare leaders

Why Apply?

This is more than a leadership role.

It is an opportunity to champion better outcomes for women, influence healthcare provision at a strategic level, and lead a service that is making a genuine difference to lives across Ireland.

For the right candidate, this position offers the chance to leave a lasting legacy in women's healthcare while enjoying a rewarding and varied career at the forefront of clinical leadership.
