At our Quality Department in Medtronic, plc, we focus on supporting the product value stream new product development team to ensure that customer and business needs are met every day, to develop a process that serves our patients. Our key focus is on delivering and maintaining a high level of Quality within the new product development groups, to ensure that business and performance goals are achieved. The Quality Engineer role is critical in supporting key department metrics thus contributing to the global strategy and to deliver on our mission to contribute to human welfare by supporting the manufacture of products that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.

A Day in The Life Of:

• Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality standards and protocols for new products in development phases.
• Collaborates with engineering, R&D, DA, PD and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
• Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
• Work on non-conformance Investigations.
• Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities to support the business.
• May collaborate in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
• Ensure compliance to all applicable department and site-wide procedures, and regulations. Support Internal and External audit preparation and activity which includes application and maintenance of quality standards for all activities associated.

Key Skills & Experience

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (Level 7 NFQ) in Engineering/Science or related discipline with a minimum of 1-year relevant direct Science/Engineering experience within medical device environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Practical working knowledge of statistical data analysis, problem solving and quality improvement tools and techniques preferable.
• Technical writing skills.
• Ability to multi-task and to take initiative is essential.
• Effective time management skills.
• Builds and maintains positive relationships with others; shows respect and consideration for others.
