Full job description

We are looking for a friendly, organised and professional GP Receptionist to join our busy and welcoming general practice from September 2026.

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Our practice is made up of 3 GPs, 2 nurses and 2 reception staff.

Duties include:

  • Welcoming patients at reception and providing a professional, friendly service
  • Responding to patient enquiries in person, by telephone and by email
  • Booking and managing appointments
  • Registering new patients
  • Processing patient payments
  • Processing HSE/GMS and other state contract claims
  • Filing, scanning and maintaining patient records
  • Maintaining office and reception supplies
  • Providing general administrative support to the practice team

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in an office or administrative role (medical administration desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to multitask in a busy environment
  • A flexible, positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Socrates Practice Management Software is an advantage but not essential, as training will be provided.
