Are you a highly organised individual with a passion for helping others? We’re looking for a confident and capable Medical Secretary to join our friendly and professional team. This is a key role at the heart of our practice, where no two days are the same and your contribution truly makes a difference.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Welcoming patients with warmth and professionalism, whether in person or over the phone.
  • Coordinating appointment bookings and ensuring the schedule runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Keeping patient records accurate, up to date, and handled with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Supporting the team with a variety of admin tasks including data entry, filing, and document preparation.
  • Communicating with external healthcare providers, pharmacies, and agencies to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Managing emails, letters, and other correspondence on behalf of the practice.
  • Assisting with prescription requests and helping to manage medication queries.
  • Providing day-to-day support to GPs and practice staff to keep everything running like clockwork.
  • Contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment.

Required Skills and Qualities:

  • Good organisational and people skills, with a calm and professional manner.
  • IT literacy and confidence using office and patient management systems.
  • A strong team ethic, with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • The ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous office experience (ideally in a healthcare setting) is preferred.
  • A willingness to broaden skills and responsibilities, including undertaking phlebotomy training and assisting with related duties as appropriate.

The position is part time, minimum 3 days but has the potential for full time hours if it suited the right applicant (24-36 hours).

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Donegal, County Donegal: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Medical office: 1 year (preferred)
