Full job description
Are you a highly organised individual with a passion for helping others? We’re looking for a confident and capable Medical Secretary to join our friendly and professional team. This is a key role at the heart of our practice, where no two days are the same and your contribution truly makes a difference.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Welcoming patients with warmth and professionalism, whether in person or over the phone.
- Coordinating appointment bookings and ensuring the schedule runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Keeping patient records accurate, up to date, and handled with the utmost confidentiality.
- Supporting the team with a variety of admin tasks including data entry, filing, and document preparation.
- Communicating with external healthcare providers, pharmacies, and agencies to ensure seamless patient care.
- Managing emails, letters, and other correspondence on behalf of the practice.
- Assisting with prescription requests and helping to manage medication queries.
- Providing day-to-day support to GPs and practice staff to keep everything running like clockwork.
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment.
Required Skills and Qualities:
- Good organisational and people skills, with a calm and professional manner.
- IT literacy and confidence using office and patient management systems.
- A strong team ethic, with the ability to work independently when needed.
- The ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous office experience (ideally in a healthcare setting) is preferred.
- A willingness to broaden skills and responsibilities, including undertaking phlebotomy training and assisting with related duties as appropriate.
The position is part time, minimum 3 days but has the potential for full time hours if it suited the right applicant (24-36 hours).
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Donegal, County Donegal: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- Medical office: 1 year (preferred)
