Full job description

We are seeking a highly organised, friendly and professional Receptionist/Administrator to join our busy optician practice. The successful candidate will be an important first point of contact for our patients and will support the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Welcoming patients and providing a professional, helpful reception service.
  • Answering telephone calls, responding to enquiries and directing calls appropriately.
  • Scheduling, confirming and managing patient appointments.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records using the practice’s patient management system.
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries and account queries.
  • Following up on glasses, lenses and other patient orders when required.
  • Processing payments, issuing receipts and completing general reception administration.
  • Supporting the optometrists and wider practice team with daily administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining an organised, professional and welcoming reception area.
  • Carrying out other duties associated with the efficient operation of an optician practice.

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role, ideally within an optical, medical or healthcare setting.
  • Experience using a patient or practice management system.
  • Strong computer skills, including email, Google Suite and appointment-booking software.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage several priorities accurately.
  • Confident and professional telephone manner.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion.
  • Dependable, proactive and comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Previous experience in an optician practice would be an advantage, but training can be provided to the right candidate.

Pay: €28,652.00-€31,616.00 per year
