Position Overview

Job Title: Financial Accountant

Location: Dublin

Employment Type: Full Time

Sector: Facilities Management (Cleaning)

The Financial Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance function across multiple jurisdictions. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with detail, thrives in a structured environment, and is eager to develop their accounting skills in a dynamic, international setting. The role involves month-end processes, reconciliations, VAT compliance, fixed asset management, and general financial administration.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Accounting

  • Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs.

Reconciliations

  • Complete bank reconciliations for multiple accounts and currencies.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and control accounts.
  • Investigate discrepancies and follow up with internal teams or external stakeholders as needed.

VAT & Indirect Tax

  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of VAT returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Maintain VAT records, supporting documentation, and audit trails.
  • Monitor changes in VAT rules across relevant regions and flag potential impacts.

Fixed Asset Management

  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
  • Support periodic asset verification exercises and liaise with operational teams.

Multi-Jurisdictional Support

  • Assist with financial processes for entities across Europe, the UK, and other regions as required.
  • Work with local teams to ensure compliance with regional accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Support consolidation activities and intercompany reconciliations.

General Finance Administration

  • Assist with audit requests (internal and external).
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and administrative support to the Financial Controller, CFO, and wider finance team.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

  • Newly Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) or Part-Qualified with up to 3 years of experience.
  • Strong proficiency in reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Experience with VAT preparation and compliance.
  • Excellent Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, and formulas).
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with fixed asset registers.
  • Knowledge of multi-jurisdictional VAT rules.
  • Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Sage, or Business Central).
