Job Title: Theatre Nurse (General)

Location: Tullamore, Co Offaly, Ireland

About Us:

Xpress Health is currently recruiting an experienced Theatre Nurse (General) to join a leading healthcare facility in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. We are looking for a dedicated and skilled nurse with recent Irish operating theatre experience who is committed to delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care while working as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care throughout the perioperative journey, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Prepare operating theatres, equipment, and surgical instruments prior to procedures.
  • Assist the surgical team in scrub, circulating, and recovery roles as required.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient care and theatre records.
  • Carry out instrument, swab, and needle counts in accordance with theatre policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre practitioners, and the multidisciplinary team.

Essential Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMBI registration.
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of recent Operating Theatre experience in Ireland.
  • Must have practised in Ireland and be familiar with Irish perioperative standards and theatre protocols.
  • Experience working in one or more theatre specialties, including scrub, circulating, or recovery.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent understanding of infection prevention, patient safety, and perioperative care.
  • Eligible to work in Ireland with the appropriate work authorisation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced theatre environment.
  • Ready to join a healthcare facility through Xpress Health.

Desirable

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS certification is an advantage.
  • Experience using electronic patient record or theatre management systems.
  • Up-to-date mandatory training relevant to perioperative nursing.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and on-call duties where required..

Pay: €32.00-€50.00 per hour
